WEATHER WATCHERS.
Todd Morris is pictured above monitoring the radar at the DeLeon
fire station during a recent thunderstorm. |
At the first rumble of thunder, many
people turn to their television sets and the trusted “weatherman.”
Others access weather reports via their computer, emergency alert
weather radios, or even cell phones.
But rural areas, which can’t always
rely on accurate forecasting from the aforementioned sources,
sometimes have an additional resource -- dedicated groups of weather

SATURDAY EVENING AT THE
MOTOCROSS. A good crowd of fans, competitors and their
supporters watched the final night of the inaugural two week run
of the DeLeon motocross out at the tractor pull arena. Bikers
made four trips down the length of the wide arena, and crossed
over a dozen or more moguls, or small mounds, to complete a
single loop of the race. Above we see the flag man signaling a
competitor crossing the finish line. The DeLeon Livestock
Association’s concession stand is in the far background. |
