Ruby Park and Stephen Riggs each missed only a single game last week, and both had the exact same number of points on the tiebreaker, so each will share the $50 weekly contest prize.

Despite having a game included in the contest that will not be played until this coming weekend (Tarleton vs. Texas A&M Commerce), and thus only 14 games being scored, there were no perfect pickers.

There were a dozen who came close to winning, however, including Allen Stone, Nicole Davis, Aaron Riggs, Lauren Casey, Lorrie Dyson, Lana Coker, Auston Sadberry, Pat Ripley, Beth Riggs, Billy Warren, Debbie Fleming and Rocky Atchley. Several of that group have won weekly contests in previous years.

Just when most of the pickers in our football contest have decided to pick Dublin as a winner, the Lions came up losers in their game with the Mavericks from Eastland. Over nine out of ten pickers missed on that game.

The next most frequently missed games were Brady’s win over Comanche and Millsap’s win over Santo, where half or more of our pickers guessed wrong.

Three of our collegiate contest were slam dunks for the pickers, however, as not a single contestant failed to predict the wins by Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Texas Tech. Also, very few pickers missed predicting Gorman’s big win over Ben Bolt.

The easy college game pickings and a free game for everyone did not cause the average score to improve, however. The average score fell to only 75.5% correct, the lowest collective grade of the young season, and good for only a “C” rating.

The Week 3 contest promises continuing picking challenges with several games looking to go either way. Good luck in making your selections!
